Accessibility
Future Spell was founded upon the intention of expanding access to safe, effective herbal care, vibrant herbs, and well-crafted herbal remedies.
We are deeply committed to ensuring all of our offerings are as accessible as possible, whether though sliding scale, pick your own offerings, or donating herbs and preparations to local free clinics. We also offer two appointments through our Virtual Free Clinic on a monthly basis.
Ecology Focused
We are obsessed with ecological growing practices that support soil ecology, biodiversity, and regenerative caretaking of the land that we work with.
We focus on life-building methods, using natural biology rich amendments for our plants, crop rotation, minimal soil disturbance, and plant diversity. We never use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, and instead focus on supporting healthy soil and healthy plants.
Reciprocity
We view tending to the land, plants, ecosystems, and communities we are enmeshed with as an ongoing circle of relationship that requires attention and care.
We have the privilege of growing on Tionotati and Ojibwe land that is steeped in it’s own rich history of relationship, and honour this by gifting herbs and preparations to BIPOC-led projects, clinics, and herbalists.
Sustainability
As a small farm, we know where our seeds came from, how the seedlings were grown, and how much environmental impact and labour went into each pound of herb.
By minimizing international import and over-harvesting of at-risk herbs, we can retain access to treasured botanicals while minimizing their environmental impact. In turn, the herbs you receive are fresher and of much higher quality than their imported counterparts.

The Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) supports farmers to build resilient ecological farms and grow a strong knowledge-sharing community.
